Being healthy is important to most people but you may not always know how to prioritize your wellness.
You may have the best intentions but your busy life can get in the way.
To actually reap the benefits of your intended health, you need to turn those intentions into actions.
Today, we share tips from Melissa Stephenson on how to prioritize wellness in daily life.
Begin With Baby Steps
Once you’ve made wellness a priority, you can begin with baby steps. You can meditate for two minutes in the morning or fit in a few minutes of strength training before dinner. Maybe, you take a short walk around the block during your lunch hours.
All these little bits add up, and that’s what is most important and sustainable.
Identify Your Wellness Goals and Priorities
Set specific wellness goals. Working toward a defined goal or objective can make it easier to keep yourself motivated.
Track What You’re Doing and Acknowledge Results
Once you’ve set your goals, you should track your efforts. Let’s say your goal is 10,000 steps a day, you can track your progress on an app on your smartphone using the fitbit device for example. There are many tracking systems available so find one that works for you.
Schedule Time for Wellness
With hectic work and family schedules, it can be easy to skip exercise. However, it’s important to build wellness activities in your daily routine. Schedule time whether it’s a walk at lunch or an evening workout and stick to it.
Also, set aside time to prepare a healthy lunches and dinners during the week. Reserving time for health and wellness can help turn your intention into action.
Surround Yourself With Wellness
Surround yourself with people and environments that promote health and wellness regularly.
Most people see the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, bringing the topic to the forefront with your friends and family could reveal some common goals. For example, you could ask a friend to try out a new class at the gym with you, or you could turn a work meeting into a “walk and talk” meeting.
Understand Your Inspiration
To truly be able to prioritize wellness, you must see the value in it. Therefore, it’s important to understand your inspiration. The inspiration can be as simple as a quote on your fridge or an image on your computer screen background that resonates with your reasons to achieve your wellness goals. It will remind you of why wellness is important to you, what you want out of it, and what you’re willing to do for it.
If you put the above mentioned ways of making your wellness a priority, you’ll be on your way to turn intentions of being healthy into reality.
